Chapter 3 part a

Chapter Three (a)

“Clarissa! Wake up already. You’re late again!” I practically fell off the bed when I heard that. I looked around the room, clearly confused. How did I get here? I remember falling asleep in Robin’s car, but I never really woke up.

“Get ready and come down for breakfast,” mum said before walking out.

I was still wearing last night’s clothes so I definitely didn’t wake up to get here. Does that mean he carried me? Pfftt… that’s not possible.
I changed out of my clothes and despite it being late, I took a quick shower. I wore my black skinny jeans, red top and black converse, and then walked into the kitchen. Mum was already at the table drinking her morning coffee. I grabbed a sandwich and ran out after giving mum a small goodbye kiss on the cheek.

30 minutes later and I’m frantically running towards my first class. Unfortunately I had literature again first thing in the morning and I was already 17 min. late.
Mrs. Brown was sure to kill me. So instead I loitered around the nurse’s office until she told me stay with her until first class was over. She’s a pretty funny, outgoing person. She graduated from this college 2 years ago and was also in Mrs. Brown’s class. So, we practically spent the whole time telling funny stories about her.

The rest of our classes passed and I managed to avoid running into Robin. I really didn’t feel like arguing with him anymore. Last night was embarrassing enough. I went to the library with Lena and Gabe after class.
I was already annoyed enough as it was yet Lena had sensed something was up and wouldn’t leave me alone. Gabe was looking at me the whole time, but he wouldn’t say anything. It was obvious he wanted to know what was going on anyway.

“I’m getting married,” I finally said. Yes, I’d finally gotten to this conclusion after thinking for 4 hours. What’s more to think about anyway? My dad wants that, mum was happy about it, and grandfather really wanted that.
Of course Lena had to scream out, “WHAT?!” and Gabe looked like his eyes were going to pop out. He cleared his throat and quickly looked away.

“Be quite Lena!!” I whispered. Everyone was already looking at us, but that didn’t seem to matter now. Lena had already decided that he had to get us kicked out.
“What do you mean be quite?! WHO IS HE?!”

So, we were kicked out. Once we were out, Gabriel grabbed my hand and we started to run. I knew what he was thinking. Why did you tell her now of all times? Let’s run before she kills us.
I guess I wasn’t thinking right. Lena won’t just let it pass like that. She was running at top speed calling out to me. In fact, she was right behind me at this point. I looked back for a while and was surprised to see her stop and just stare. Gabriel pulled me towards him and we fell right on top of each other. It was such an epic fail. Of course the person who had caused all this chaos was his royal highness…Robin.

He stood there with his light brown hair covering his eyes as usual. Sometimes, I have this strong desire to cut off his bangs. Although he looks hot the way he is…

I was glad I didn’t tell them Robin was the person I was going to spend my life with. Lena would have jumped him then. Of course he was still standing there looking at me disapprovingly. Gabriel helped me up and we were about to quietly run off when Lena screamed. “YOU ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!! TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEANT BACK THEN FIRST! WHO IS HE???????!!!!”

I think Robin had an idea about what was going on cause he grabbed my arm and pulled me away from the staring crowd. “Can’t you keep it quiet? Even if we get married you’re not allowed to tell anyone until we graduate.”

“What do you mean after we graduate? Aren’t we getting married after graduation?”

“No. If you’re ok with it they want to make the engagement ceremony in a month, and the wedding in three months. I’ve already talked to them and they’ve agreed to make it low until we graduate then we’re throwing a party.”

“Can’t we wait? We’re graduating in 6 months anyway.”

“If you can get the whole family to listen then sure.”

No way… I sighed and looked away. “So, we’ll be living together but no one will know?”

“Yes.”

“I’m going to need someone to be there for me, so I’m sorry but I’m telling my best friends about this. I need someone to understand that I’m going through hell these days.”

He touched my cheeks with both hands and got me to face him. “I’m ok with that, but I don’t like your reason for telling them, Clarissa. You’ll need to start learning how like me.”

“I will…if you do.”

He smiled for some reason. It made me blush. Don’t get me wrong, but he just has a very beautiful, bright smile. I quickly looked away but he got me to look at him again.

“No problem. Just make sure you keep it low for now,” he said before leaving. Why was he being so nice? Why? Does he feel bad for me? Maybe he wants to make me feel better. He’s actually more humane than me when you think about it, but he just doesn’t show it.

So, Lena and Gabriel eventually found out about everything and kept quiet about it. Lena tried making me feel better but I wasn’t all that scared anymore. I felt better after that talk with Robin.

So, after classes were over I drove over to dad’s house. He was busy checking over some documents so I busied myself with some projects until Robin came over. I was glad he’d bought pizza over. Honestly, I told him to come over when dad kept groaning that he had a lot to do and wasn’t free for me, and I didn’t feel like driving back home.

“Thought you’d be hungry since your dad never really has anything in the kitchen,” he said as he sat beside me on the sofa. I smiled. “Very.”
I could feel his stare on me as I opened up a box of pizza. He was probably thinking of what an idiot I am. What he said next kind of surprised me.

“I never thought you’d need me. I never even thought you’d ever call me.”

“I’m sorry for being a bother,” I murmured, hoping he hadn’t heard me but he had.

“Shut up. You’ve already been a bother,” he looked away as I turned to face him. “But, you can call for me anytime. I’m ok with it.”

I smiled. “Oh really? Are you really ok with me calling you anytime I want?”

He sat back and sighed. “I don’t mean you can call me every second for something stupid. You can call me only once a day. I’ll ignore if you call more than once. I have a life you know.”

I took a bite of the pizza and went back to my project. I’d better finish today since I have nothing else today. Robin was staring at me intently… I wander if he thinks I can’t tell.

“You’re going to stare a hole in my face,” I finally said.

“Excuse me I’m being nice and not bothering you although you got me all the way here for nothing. I’m bored, ok?!”

“So my face is interesting to you?”

“As a matter of fact, yes. I’m trying to analyze my future wife.”

I closed my book and laptop then turned to fully face him. “What do you think so far?”

He snorted. “A lot of things. Mostly, I can tell that you will be very exhausting and tiresome to take care of, because as far as I can tell… you’re …”

“I’m what?”

He smirked but looked away not saying anything. I pouted and sat back in my place. Just then my phone vibrated, indicating a message. Robin snatched it before I could. Oh no he won’t…
I tried to get it back but he stood up and held it up. He’s way taller than me, and him doing that didn’t help much.

“Robin! Give it back.”

He chuckled. “Get it if you can.”

I frowned and got on the sofa trying to get the phone…he held my hand and gave it a slight push causing me to lose balance and fall back. I think he was trying to stop my fall cause his hand was under my back, holding me close to him.

“Clumsy idiot,” he muttered.

I just stared at him and blinked like an idiot. He was actually really handsome. He had long lashes, and a perfect jaw line. But his only problem is his personality. Why does he have to act like this towards me?

“What? Am I handsome enough for you?”

I quickly looked away and pulled away from him. “Shut up.”
